10 Ways To Keep Kids Safe

Keeping kids safe is one of the toughest challenges of parenting. For parents, The safety of kids is above everything. For the growth of children to their fullest potential, it is important to keep them protected in society and community. Today, many children are not protected. They suffer violence, abuse, discrimination, neglect, exploitation, etc. Practically, parents can’t live every second with their children, but they can assure kids’ safety. 

How to keep kids safe?

Children need protection in many ways. There are times when children get into troubles because of their demons. Sometimes they trust the wrong person. There are various ways in which children get into trouble. So, the ultimate thing is how to keep them safe.

Here are some points regarding the safety of children.

  • For kid’s safety, Parents should make them remember their name, parents name and address. There may be conditions when kids get lost, generally in the crowded area or fair. At these times, if the children had information remember about their family, it will be helpful.
  • It is essential for children safety that they know how to use the telephone. So that in case of any problem, they can contact to Parents or any other trustable person.
  • When the children are small, parents should try to contact them as more as possible. Leaving them alone is not safe.

When children are small, like in the age group of 2-3 years, their safety is essential. But children grow up, and they require more protection. 

  • Friendly relation with children is essential. When the connection between parents and children is good, children may share their problems, and thus they will be safe.
  • Parents should teach their child to say “no”.Children believe in everyone so quickly, but not everyone is worth believing. Teach them saying no if they are asked to keep a special secret about touching.
  • Parents should teach the child about good and bad touch. In today’s environment, this is the most important thing. Some people use to take advantage of the innocence of children. Teach them that not every touch is right or not the intention of every person is good.

Safety from online activities:

The year 2020 had taught us many things. The past year had generated the trend of online working more quickly and as per the conditions, it will be long lasting. In these days online mode of study is preferred and that results in children spending more time with mobile or online. But it may affect the safety of kids. Here are some other points regarding safety of kids:

  • It is mandatory for parents to have an eye on the online activities of their children.
  • Parents should be aware of online friends of their children.
  • It is essential that parent talks to children about their online activities openly. So that when they have a problem, they came to parents and trusted peoples.
  • Make them learn that it is not secure to tell their secret to an unknown person they meet online.

There is a difference between being possessive and being protective. The children need protection, but they need their personal space too. When a child grows up, they feel a need for privacy. So be protective but give them privacy also. It will help in building a better parent-child relationship.
