Do You Know These Benefits Of Homeschooling?

Homeschooling, as the word describes, is tutoring your child at home. This Is picking up momentum as more parents are cautious about how their children can prosper with quality education and appropriate approach. However, holistic development still is a great challenge. Such education can be imparted by anyone who is patient and understands a child’s ability to develop. They can be the parents, relatives or a hired teacher. There are a lot of benefits of homeschooling & we are here with some of them!

Remarkable Benefits Of Homeschooling

1) Prime focus on an individual – Schooling at home has a great lead-in teacher to child ratio; as a result, the tutor can focus on the abilities and weakness of a child and build a specific module which can be easily adapted by a child thus helping him/her in better comprehension of concepts.

2)Time & Energy Saver – Home tutoring is an excellent way of saving time and energy and channelising them for your child’s productive good.

As the child doesn’t have to go to any physical institution and then return home tired. They are thus helping in retaining time and productive energy.

3) Opportunity to understand without a time frame- Most established institutions have specific allotted time for their particular subject that needs to be taught in a specific time. But the advantage of schooling at home is the tutor can take enough time to make the child understand a particular thing or concept before progressing to the next thing.

4) In-depth Analysis – The model of Homeschooling helps understand a child’s interest in a particular area or specific subject that they can take to new heights and can do an in-depth study on the subject. Thus helping a child create a passion for a subject and making it lucrative to do a deep search in a topic.

5) Fostering self-confidence – If a child is taught at home, they are more likely to be optimistic. As there is no one to compare or judge. Thus the child is honest to himself and understands his potential and weakness. Then he/ she works on things which will improve him.

However, there are some disadvantages of Homeschooling which if no heeds can adversely affect child development. Few of them are as follows :

1) Lack of extracurricular activities

It has been observed that children who are home tutored are not active in extracurricular activities as there is no structured way of

doing that within the home premises. However, education institutions are organised and work on various aspects of holistic child development.

2) lack of infrastructure and facilities

Most courses or subjects require attention to detail . And some experiments which indeed need some infrastructure and facilities which cannot be performed at home. For instance to carry out a lab test for a chemical, there is always a requirement of chemistry lab which has different chemicals, which institutions can only get due to various licensing. Moreover, more space is necessary to keep things organised.

3) Lack of healthy competition

Homeschooling is lagging in healthy competition. The child’s mind is always at rest and has no positive pressure or a desire to get ahead of others.

4) Lack of interpersonal skills

Home educating lacks interpersonal skills as the family and tutor surround a child. They are older than their age. Therefore, creating a difference in ideology and way of thinking as to how a child perceives the world at large.

We can conclude by saying Homeschooling and institutional schooling should be balanced. It helps in the child’s general development, making him an excellent social human being with an optimistic approach in life.
