Ravi Kumar Dahiya was born in 1997 in Haryana, India, and is a professional freestyle wrestler. He began wrestling at the young age of 10 and began training seriously after two years. He belongs to a low-income family, and his father is a small farmer. The staunch support of his parents, who used to drive several kilometers for his training, allowed him to pursue a career in sports.
Dahiya won the silver medal at the 2015 Junior World Championships in the 55kg category. Even though an injury kept him from competing for over a year, he made a quick comeback and won a silver medal at the 2018 under-23 Wrestling Championships. In his World Championship debut in 2019, he won a bronze medal and qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
He is also a two-time winner of the Asian Championships, says Wikipedia.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya won the silver medal in the men’s 57kg category at the Tokyo Olympics. This is only the second Olympic medal in wrestling in Indian history. His silver victory is ground-breaking and a true testament to his skill, hard work, dedication, and determination.
