[Video] Know About Bonita Murungi, Youngest Award Winning Author, in Just 3 Minutes

In an age where most of the children read stories and books, Bonita Murungi is among those who establish themselves as an author at an early age. She is the youngest award winning author and climate change advocate. This talented girl is from Uganda. At just 11 years of age she has written two books and also have been approved by the National Curriculum Development Centre as reading material for upper primary in Uganda. The young author has written three books:

  • Friends (2014)
  • The Brave Prince Michael (2015) and
  • Life of The Forest (2018)

Facts About Bonita Murungi

  1. Two of her books, Friends and The Brave Prince Michael; are fictional and are available at all the leading bookshops of Uganda, and E-copies are available at Amazon.
  2. Her journey began when she was in nursery school where her teachers would give project work and thereafter she developed her interest in writing.
  3. Bonita is not just only in writing but she aims at conserving the planet.
  4. She has also written a poem ‘Bitter Sweet Days’. The poem is about us rising and battling what may destroy the world and winning a battle.
  5. Over the years, she has been an inspiration to other young people as a guest speaker at several literary events. In June 2015, Bonita was invited to speak at the Ambrosoli International School Uganda.
  6. Moreover, she was also invited to speak on the World Book and Copyright Day at Green Hills Academy in Kigali, Rwanda. On this platform, Bonita’s first book ‘Friends’ won 2015 Fiction Writer’s Award in recognition of her exceptional ability in writing.

Bonita Murungi is awarded the Global Prodigy Child Awards in the year 2020 in the category of ‘Author’. She is also recognized amongst Top 100 child prodigies of the year.
