Facts About The Famous Art Prodigy |Pablo Picasso

Ever thought about why Pablo Picasso is considered one of the most famous child prodigies in the world’s history? It is because he was able to draw before he could talk. His father was an art teacher, and Pablo became a better artist his father when he was just 13. As a result, his father handed over his brushes & colors to Picasso and swore that he would never paint again. After that, he took admission to an art school in Barcelona. A month was generally provided to complete the entrance examination, but he finished it in a single day.

Born in Malaga in Spain in 1881, Pablo Picasso used to paint fairly realistic portraits and landscapes. He is one of the most inspirational as well as a controversial artist. His artworks simultaneously fascinated, shocked, and heavily influenced the art world. The pieces of art Picasso created throughout his life includes all his works from early childhood until his death. These provide comprehensive proof of his development as an artist.

Pablo’sPablo’s evolution as an artist is classified into different ”periods” that reflect both the outside world and emotions in his personal life at the given time. His artworks have an authentic feel that people find relatable. Picasso’s paintings from earlier years, commonly from the ‘‘Blue Period”, are his most profound works. As he got into a severe depression, his paintings often displayed malnutrition and prostitution. Other than that, his works included beggars and drunks, dominated with essentially monochromatic shades.

Not Just A Painter

People mostly know Picasso for his paintings, but he was also experimenting with a number of different mediums, including sculpture, drawing, ceramics, and printmaking. In the years from 1917 to 1924, he designed the curtain, sets, and costumes for a handful of ballets. Pablo also liked to write poetry. He started writing poetry in 1935 and even authored two plays in the 1940s.

In 1944, he joined the French Communist Party just after Paris had been liberated from the Nazis. The child prodigy, Pablo, also made a drawing as part of an unsuccessful effort to save a Greek communist leader from the firing squad, and he even designed a portrait of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. His artworks were incredible. According to the Art Loss Register, more than 1,147 works of Pablo Picasso that are missing, more than twice as many as any other artist. 

Nearly half a century after his death, Picasso still continues to confuse, bewitch, entice, and provoke people through his artworks.
