Smrithi Vikram has been deeply connected to Bharatanatyam since early childhood. Her journey began under the guidance of Guru “Natyakala Ratna” Smt. Rajeshwari Sundararaman. She later continued her training with her mother, “Nattuvanga Kalaimani” Smt. Ramya Natarajan, who has been a strong influence in shaping her style and discipline. Today, Smrithi sharpens her skills under Nritya Vidushi Dr. Manjari Chandra while learning finer aspects of thaalam, layam, and abhinayam from her mother.
Smrithi is known for her expressive performances that blend grace with storytelling. She has performed both solo and duet concerts with her mother in India and abroad, often earning appreciation from audiences and critics alike. Her presence has been felt on many prestigious stages, including the sabhas of Chennai during the famous Margazhi Festival, a platform that has hosted some of the greatest artists.
Her efforts and talent have been recognized through several awards and titles at national and international competitions. She also received the prestigious CCRT scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, India, a significant recognition for her dedication to Bharatanatyam. These achievements reflect her ability to balance discipline with creativity, a rare quality in someone so young.
Dance is not Smrithi’s only passion. She is also a dedicated student of Hindustani music, which complements her dance by enriching her understanding of rhythm and melody. This connection between music and movement gives her performances depth and emotional strength.
Smrithi’s journey stands as proof that commitment and consistent practice open doors to excellence. She continues to work hard, guided by her gurus and inspired by her love for the art. With each performance, she carries forward a classical tradition while making it her own, inspiring many young learners to pursue the path of dance with devotion and sincerity.
