“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato.
Tara Ghahremani is a 12-years-old musical prodigy from Tehran, Iran. She is a Santoor artist, and anyone who has witnessed her concert knows that she is an extraordinarily talented and graceful artist. Tara has managed to gain international fame for playing the Santoor beautifully and introducing her beloved instrument to the world at such a young age.
She also shared that she had been learning music since she was just five years old. During her childhood, her mother was a Santoor student, which piqued her interest in Santoor. Initially, Tara played a musical instrument called ‘Tonbak,’ a traditional Iranian instrument. Tara finally started playing the Santoor at the age of eight.
One of Tara’s fondest memories while playing the Santoor is when she had the opportunity to play it in a video of a composer from Brazil who played guitar in the video. It is a very memorable performance for her.
Tara also shared that Santoor is a well-liked instrument in Iran, and both men and women in Iran love playing it. After seeing Tara play, we are sure that the whole world will try to get their hands on Santoor.
Just as the whole world struggles with the pandemic, Tara wishes for it to be over soon. During the lockdown, Tara stayed at home and spent time with her family. She had online classes and focused on her education. Apart from this, she spent her time working on music and coming up with new pieces.
Tara Ghahremani received the Global Child Prodigy Award in January 2020 for music. She was also among the Top 100 Child Prodigies of the year. She describes the moment she got the award as fascinating and like a dream.
