Tara Ghahremani Shares Her Journey In An Exclusive Interview With Global Child Prodigy

Tara Ghahremani, the 12-year-old Santoor prodigy, recently had an exclusive interview with Global Child Prodigy under Prodigy Talks. The renowned Entrepreneur, Educationalist, and Humanitarian, Mr. Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, hosted the talk. He is also the Managing Director of Mangalam Educational Institutions. Mr. Kavin’s institutions serve more than 7000 students every year.

Tara Ghahremani, Tell Us a Little About Yourself

My name is Tara Ghahremani, and I am 12-years-old. I am from Tehran, Iran. I am a Santoor artist. Currently, I’m in the 7th standard. 

How’s the Whole Situation in Iran During the Pandemic?

Due to the pandemic, it’s a lockdown here in Iran. I believe that we should manage this pandemic situation in the best way. For example, I stay at home and spend more quality time with my family. I practice music, study, and try to do other work like that. Also, we have online classes.

How Did You Become a Santoor Artist?

I have been learning music since I was five years old. At that time, my mom was a Santoor student. So, I got interested in learning to play Santoor and finally started playing Santoor when I was eight years old. Before that, I played a musical instrument called ‘Tonbak,’ which is a traditional Iran instrument.

Who’s the Better Santoor Artist Between You and Your Mother?

Me, because I have been playing Santoor for a long time now, but my mom had only played it for two years. 

Which is the Most Memorable Performance You Have Given So Far?

I enjoyed playing Santoor for a video composed of an excellent composer from Brazil. He played guitar in that video. It is a very memorable performance for me.

Do A Lot of People in Iran Play Santoor?

Yes, Santoor is a well-liked instrument in Iran, and both men and women in Iran love to play Santoor.

How Did It Feel to Receive the Global Child Prodigy Award?

That moment was fascinating, like a dream. I was very excited about coming to India and enjoyed it a lot here. I also made many new friends at that event. Global Child Prodigy Awards is an excellent initiative to recognize, promote, and support child prodigies, from across the world, in their well-liked fields.

Do You Have A Personal Mentor?

Yes, I have a wonderful mentor who has been teaching me for a year now. I appreciate and thank him for introducing me to play the Santoor so well.

My parents and teachers are my role models. I always look up to them.

Yes, I have a YouTube channel named ‘Tara Ghahremani,’ and I also compose my music.

I want to become an excellent Santoor player in future as I love it a lot.
