DAVID LOPEZ ARAGON

From the spirited heart of Guatemala comes a boy whose dreams are as vast as the sky. David Alejandro López Aragón isn’t just fascinated by the stars — he’s reaching for them, proving that with courage and curiosity, age is never a barrier to wonder.

David’s journey into the cosmos began at age six, sparked by a video about stars. That moment of awe became a lifelong passion. His curiosity grew with every book and documentary, filling family conversations with questions about black holes, galaxies, and life beyond Earth. His family quickly realized this was no fleeting interest. Supported by his mother, he immersed himself in learning. When age limits barred him from formal study, she enrolled in a university diploma program just so he could learn alongside her. Eventually, David was invited to present topics himself — years ahead of his peers in both knowledge and confidence.

Access didn’t come easy. In a country with few opportunities for young astronomers, David never gave up. He joined the local astronomy association as its youngest member and took part in advanced workshops led by professionals. His persistence led to opportunities: teaching, presenting, and mentoring others. From observatory visits to classroom talks, he became a bridge between young minds and big ideas. With every new concept he learned, David made sure to share it — because for him, science isn’t just personal. It’s a light meant to be passed on, especially to children like him.

He launched a YouTube channel to simplify complex topics, helping kids explore the universe in fun, accessible ways. His book, ¡Mi Universo!, brought the solar system to life for countless young readers. From local schools to national science events, David’s presence has inspired students and teachers alike — proving that one voice, no matter how young, can make a lasting impact.

David’s world is filled with wonder — not just about space, but also life here on Earth. He plays with his dogs, collects Pokémon cards, and tends to his turtles and fish. He finds inspiration in both galaxies and gardens. His days balance learning, playing, and teaching. With gentle confidence and deep enthusiasm, he reminds everyone around him that science isn’t only about data — it’s about imagination, empathy, and the courage to keep asking why.

David’s dream is bold: to keep writing, keep teaching, and one day, reach Mars. But even now, he sees his role clearly — to be a voice of hope for children in Guatemala and beyond. He wants to show others that science is for everyone, regardless of age or geography. His belief is simple: knowledge should be shared, and dreams should be chased — no matter how distant they seem.

Receiving the Global Child Prodigy Award 2025 is a moment David will never forget. “It feels amazing,” he says. “This award shows the world that Guatemala also looks to the stars.” For him, it’s more than a trophy — it’s proof that possibilities are real. With faith, focus, and imagination, he knows the future is wide open — and he’s already reaching for it.

“It’s never too early to reach for the stars — dreams don’t wait for age, only for courage.”
