Tell Us A Little About Yourselves, Freddie & Teddie

We are Freddie & Teddie, and we are known as Tapping Twins. Currently, we are in Los Angeles, California. We turned 12 on August 29, 2020, and we know each other by heart.

How Did You Celebrate Your Birthday During The Quarantine?

We went to a resort called Omni Resorts in Palm Springs on our birthday. The pool there was pretty nice. If we go there early in the morning, we had the pool all to ourselves.

When Did You Start Tapping?

We started to Tap dance when we were 4-years-old. Now, we are 12, and that’s about eight years. We were too young for sports at that time, so our mom put us in the dance program, and that’s how we started dancing.

I remember that we enjoyed it. As now we are older, and we have to take care of a lot of things while dancing, but we love Tap dancing.

How Do You Balance Your School Life And Dancing?

The school comes first obviously, but after finishing school, we go straight to the dancing. We do online schooling that starts at 8 am, so we need to wake up early in the morning. Our school begins at 8 am and ends at 2 am. After that, we practice tapping from 4 pm to 6 pm. There are some days when we want to have a break like on weekends. But, we always have to keep our skills up to the maximum.

When Did You Start Getting Recognized?

When we were 6, we did a dance that was recognized by the Nicholas brothers. Then someone introduced us to the show called ‘Little Big Shots’ and that’s where our career began. We went to the different versions of the show in London, Colombia, New Mexico, Paris, and Los Angeles. It’s entertaining meeting the hosts on those shows.

The thing we enjoyed the most is performing obviously. We were sitting down on a couch, and when they turned the stage, we found the tapping boards there. It was a fantastic experience.

Are You Both Doing Anything Right Now?

We are preparing for a Tap Fest in New Mexico. It is in a couple of months, so we have a long time to prepare. We have to have someone to teach us the dances for the show. It’s just that we have to keep through it until we get it perfect.

What Happens If You Two Disagree On Whatever Is Taught?

If we disagree on it, we could add the moves that we like. We can balance it out if we don’t like the movements of one another. We keep switching the moves until we both like it. Sometimes we don’t want to tap until the problem is fixed or we keep fighting. If we can’t make the deal done, then our mom comes and solves the problem.

Is There Anything That You Two Do Differently?

Yes, I (Teddie) love to skate, but he (Freddie) loves to ride his bike a lot. When it comes to the house, Freddie always wants to make sure that everything is clean, and Teddie doesn’t care.

If You Were Not Dancing, What Would You Two Be Doing?

Teddie: If I were not dancing, I would take video gaming as my passion.

Freddie: I would want to create a studio where there will be different types of genres of dance.

Have You Ever Thought About Coming To India?

Yes, we want to showcase my talent there and express it to people who don’t know about tap. Also, our mom told us that we have a good fan base from India.

How Does It Feel To Be Global Child Prodigy Awardees?

We feel honored, and we are happy that we have been chosen for the Global Child Prodigy Awards. It’s pretty cool having people watching us all around the world. We were amazed to see the talents of all the 100 kids from GCP Awards.
