“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
God has given everyone a gift with unique talents; few of us can identify at the right time & right age. A very few people have this skillset with this mystical talent since their childhood. Although Ishwar Sharma has struggled from birth with ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), he was never able to sit still and self-control his body initially. But since practicing Yoga, he has found inner peace and calmness inside his mind and soul. And this 10-year-old yoga prodigy is now a master in Yoga and also inspiring millions to do it.
At just the tender age of four, Ishwar has performed in more than 100 national and international events. He is inspiring thousands of children and adults to commence their journey with Yoga. For Ishwar, his journey is just like a competition, not to compete with others but with himself. He always challenges himself to practice different yoga postures to boost his skills in the art of Yoga.
Apart from Yoga, he also can chant many ‘shlokas’ from the ‘Vedas’ and ‘Bhagavad Gita.’
At the age of eight, this Indian-origin child prodigy is the UK National yoga champion. He has also been named the ‘British Indian of the Year‘ (16 July 2018) for his accomplishments in Yoga. Sharma has won a string of medals in both individual and artistic Yoga lately, a gold medal representing Great Britain at the World Student Games 2018 in Winnipeg, Canada.
Global Child Prodigy Awards, the world’s first and only award ceremony solely dedicated to recognizing unique and talented children, awarded Ishwar Sharma in the year 2020.
Speaking to BBC, Ishwar(British Indian of the Year) told about the Event, “I am honored to have been selected for these Global Child Prodigy Awards from 15,000 applicants from 45 countries. For which I strongly believe that Yoga is very important for physical and mental health,” said Sharma. Who received his Certificate of Achievement at a special event attended by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, Dr. Kiran Bedi, and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in New Delhi earlier this month.
In the year 2020, Ishwar has qualified to represent Great Britain in the World Yoga Championship to be held in Edmonton, Canada, in 2020. The championship, organized by the International Yoga Sports Federation, involves participants from across 55 countries.
Ishwar says, “I aim to promote a yogic lifestyle to combat climate change and help yogic methods to improve mental health among children and adults. This award allows me to be an ambassador for Yoga and spread the message.”
