NICOLE OLIVEIRA DE LIMA SEMIÃO
From the star-kissed skies of Fortaleza, Brazil, shines a trailblazer who is helping young minds look up and wonder. Nicole Oliveira de Lima Semião — known by many as the youngest astronomer in the world — is not just studying the universe, she’s helping shape its future. Her passion for space turned into purpose at an early age, and since then, she’s inspired thousands through science education, asteroid discovery, and a powerful belief that children, no matter their age, can lead revolutions in knowledge.
Nicole’s story began with a spark — an introductory astronomy course she took at the age of six. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. She didn’t just study astronomy — she taught it. Whether in classrooms, public squares, or online platforms, she shared what she learned with children across Brazil. With no roadmap for children in science outreach, Nicole created her own — one filled with telescopes, lectures, social media, and a voice too bright to be ignored.
Facing early barriers, from limited access to events to those who doubted a girl’s place in science, Nicole persevered. Encouraged by her mother, she studied relentlessly and grew into a leader in citizen science. Her discovery of numerous asteroids through an international program in partnership with NASA placed her in the global spotlight. Since then, she has become an ambassador for planetariums and astronomy networks and has delivered lectures and educational content for thousands of children — many of whom are now dreaming differently because of her light.
Nicole’s day is a careful balance of learning and giving. School in the morning, astronomy content creation in the afternoon, and evenings filled with community science projects. She runs the Nicolinha & Kids STEAM Club — a social initiative that has impacted over 3,000 children — and hosts telescope sessions in public spaces to bring the stars closer to families. Outside of science, she loves singing, acting, painting, and reading — passions that nurture her creativity and fuel her multidimensional brilliance.
Nicole’s influence stretches far beyond her hometown. Without listing individual awards, her recognitions span international platforms, prestigious institutions, and global scientific communities. Her work continues to receive praise from educators, researchers, and cultural leaders. But what she values most is the impact — the curious child who sees a planet for the first time, the classroom that finds joy in science, and the partnerships she’s built to bring opportunity and education where it’s needed most. Nicole’s journey reminds the world that even the smallest voice can echo across galaxies.
Nicole dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer, building rockets, and creating new technologies — all while continuing her mission of science education. She lives by the principles of honesty, respect, and love for others. Her work is a blend of innovation and empathy, powered by a vision where every child, regardless of background, has the tools and inspiration to explore the universe.
Winning the Global Child Prodigy Award again in 2025 holds deep meaning for Nicole. “I feel honored and very happy to once again be part of this select group of children who inspire and make a difference in their countries,” she shares. Since her first recognition, she has expanded her social projects, built global partnerships, and brought hope to children across Brazil.
“Reach beyond the stars — not because they are far, but because your light belongs among them.” – Unknown
