Parents’ Guide For Choosing The Right Instrument For Your Child

Music is an essential part of life. It takes all stress and negativity away from life. It is more interesting to learn to play an instrument. Playing instruments is good for health too. It requires knowing a few things before Choosing The Right Instrument for your kid.

Firstly we have to know about the benefits of learning instruments.

Reasons to Learn to Play an Instrument:

  • Learning an instrument help children to create, store and efficiently retrieve the memory.
  • Learning how to play instruments gives your kid a feeling of pride and achievement.  It requires hard work and patience to learn musical instruments. Music teacher sets goals to achieve by the kids. When kids achieve that goal, it gives them a feeling of pride.

  • Playing an instrument requires coordination of the brain with the physical activity needed to play an instrument. Learning instrument playing enhances coordination.
  • Music and Instruments play a significant role in exposing the student to history and culture.
  • It increases listening skills as it requires children to listen carefully to an array of different things.so in this way, it increases listening skills.

Does age matter?

According to some music education experts, the age of six is the turning point for children learning to play an instrument. From the age of six, the human body starts growing fastly especially the hands. Under the age of six, The Violin and Piano are considered acceptable. These instruments can better fit their small hands, and they may learn basics. When they are a couple of years older, they can transfer to other tools.

Providing a heavy instrument to a kid is not going to work more.

The instrument according to age:

  • For younger kids, Violin is considered as best with some precautions.
  • When the child is 8 to 10 years old, they are more focused than earlier. The Guitar is best suited for this age group’s children as their hands are large enough to hold Guitar.

  • Children above age 10 are ready to learn the instrument in which they are interested. When a kid is ten years old or above, he is physically and mentally prepared to learn any musical device. The choice of instrument may vary from kid to kid.
  • The Piano came in a variety of sizes. When the child cannot decide what instrument he should learn, Piano is the best option.

Factors to Consider before Choosing The Right Instrument

  • Body Size: The body size of children matters a lot. Kids with large, well-developed lungs can play wind instruments perfectly.
  • Kids with smaller hands can play Violin and Guitar better.
  • Dedication: For the best learning of musical instruments, the commitment of the child requires.
  • Age: Parents should never try to push their children for a particular instrument. At different ages, children may be interested in various musical tools.

Playing an instrument requires dedication. It is okay if a child switches to another musical tool. It all depends on their interest. Parents should not neglect the choice of their children if it is different from theirs.
