Rahul has become a YouTube sensation with his melodious voice. He has managed to impress many prominent personalities, such as Sudha Raghunathan, who invited him to perform at the Madras Music Academy. It was a significant achievement for the singing prodigy. At present, Rahul is learning Carnatic Vocal, Mridangam, and Western Piano.
In a candid talk with Global Child Prodigy, Rahul talked about the challenges he had to face during his musical journey. Keep reading the article for more information!
As soon as Rahul’s parents discovered that he was interested in music, they started appreciating his talent. They wanted him to learn classical music as classical music is best, so they initiated Rahul into classical music at four.
Initially, no one was willing to teach Rahul Carnatic music because he was too young to learn. His parents knocked on the doors of many music teachers, coaching classes, but no one agreed. All the music teachers believed that he could learn Carnatic music only when he could read and write Kannada. But, Rahul Vellal’s parents wanted to encourage their son’s skills, so they kept trying. They initiated him into Sloka Classes, and he learned Slokas for about one year.
After that, he started learning Carnatic music under Shri Suchetan Rangaswamy sir, at the age of four. He is currently learning from Shri KO Jaychandra Rao sir and western piano from Shri N Abhishek sir.
Rahul Vellal says that his biggest dream is to perform with MS Subbulakshmi Ji. In the future, he might become a music therapist. Music therapy is a healing method in which a particular raga or scale can make a person feel better. Rahul is a versatile singer who will achieve his goals through hard work and determination.
The Global Child Prodigy is the first and only organization that recognizes the young talents from various countries and backgrounds. The list of GCP awards includes children having extreme competency in their field of interest, such as painting, modeling, writing, entrepreneurship, martial art, music, social work, etc.
