Sujatha Mohan: A Prolific Prodigious Singer

There have been several music prodigies whom people should cherish for their inexplicable talent. Some of them have made it to the top, pushing their remarkable name. The list is long, but a name that outshines and pops out. At the same time, the discussion of prodigious musicians or singers is Sujatha Mohan. She is one of the most admirable figures of our times. She was a prodigious musical child who grew up to become a sensational singer, especially in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telegu music industries.

The Journey of Sujhata Mohan:

She started singing when she was just a schoolgirl.

Sujhata is well known for her work in the music industry as a playback singer. Her journey started when she started singing with K.J. Yesudas on stage worldwide when she was just a schoolgirl. She first recorded a song in the sixth standard in the Malayalam language, namely “Kannezhuthy Pottuthottu” for the movie Tourist Bungalow. Composer M.G. Radhakrishnan asked her to do songs apart from the movie industry, and they got pretty popular. In the Tamil music industry, Sujhata debuted with a song. It didn’t release, so her first release song is “Kalai Paniyil” from Gayathri’s movie. She did take some time off the music industry when she got married in 1981. Still, magically, she made a comeback in 1988 with the song Kadathanadan Ambadi.

Biggest Hits

Sujhata Mohan being a fantastic singer, sang jingles for none other than the legend A.R. Rehman in the 80s. She sang the biggest hits of all times, including “Pudhu Vellai Mazhai,” a vocal artist for “Kadhal Roja.” The most iconic Hindi songs that she sang include, Chor-Chor, Dil Hai Sanam, Ishq Bina from the movie Taal, Ishwar Allah from Earth, and few others. The great singer made a comeback in the 90s in the Malayalam music industry.
She did a lot of reality music shows and a judge. She worked with other famous composers, including Vidyasagar and Mani Sharma.

Sujhata Mohan received a tremendous amount of recognition and respect, not just with awards but with praises and a lot of wishes. The list of awards that she has received adds to the value of her adorable talent. She has been nominated for the National Film Awards, twice as the nominee in Best Female Playback Singer’s work for her work in Paradesi and Minsara Kanavu. Sujhata earned the most prestigious award, Kalaimamani, by the state of Tamil Nadu.

The list of Awards that Sujhata Mohan won is admirably lengthy but prominent. Her notable awards include three awards for the best female playback singer in the Kerala State Film Awards, the same in the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. She was awarded four awards for the best female playback singer by the Kerala Film Critics Award, another three mentions for the same in AsiaNet Film Awards. There are several other awards that she won, and the list could go on and on. Sujhata is a Prodigious talent that we all need to cherish and respect. The dedication and hard work she has put into her career in all the music industries she worked with are marvelous and deserve enormous appreciation.
