“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” – Confucius
Nature sometimes surprises us by making people with exceptional skills. One such person with incredible talent is Truptraj Pandya. When most children are busy playing and doing homework, Truptraj is busy making World records. The 13-year-old boy has already won a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records.
Truptraj Pandya was born on October 23, 2006. According to Truptraj’s website, he was hardly 2-year-old when he started playing the tabla. Listening to his grandmother sing devotional songs, Truptraj used to sit beside her and play aluminum dabbas as an instrument. Truptraj’s natural attraction to the instruments led him to become the youngest Tabla Master in the world. His repertoire is mainly folk and devotional music.
Atul, his dad, often provides vocal accompaniment to his performances. Legends like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasiya, and Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan have given their blessings and help him get better skills.
His first public performance was at Mumbai’s Somaiya college when he was two years old. At the age of three, the child prodigy played live at the All India Radio. He played for Doordarshan when he was just four. At the age of 6, he earned a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records for being the youngest ever Tabla Master. “He was born with a sense of rhythm,” Truptraj’s father Atul Pandya told The Times of India during an interview.
After making it to the Guinness Book, he has been performing endlessly and mastering his skills. He has given more than 200 public performances and has been invited as a guest of honor at significant events like Mind Mingle Inspirational Festival, Seminars, and stage shows. Truptraj has been a Speaker and Performer at TEDx Hinduja, Mumbai, and TEDx Bandra, Mumbai, to talk about his love for music and passion for playing Tabla.
The Global Child Prodigy Awards is here to recognize talents from various countries and backgrounds, having extreme competency in their field of interest. The GCP award list includes children doing great in fields such as painting, modeling, writing, entrepreneurship, etc.
One of the most outstanding achievements of Truptraj Pandya is that he received the Global Child Prodigy award in January 2020 for sports. His name was among the top 100 prodigies of the year.
The child prodigy, Truptraj, has achieved great success at such a young age. But success comes through efforts, hard work, and determination. The little Table player Truptraj is an inspiration for us because he never looked back once he started exploring his passion.
