When Did Vriti Gujral ‘s Passion For Kathak Start?

Today, very few people are there who care about their traditions and culture due to modern technologies. But, the 14-year-old girl, Vriti Gujral, not just cares about it but is also working hard to make people aware of Indian culture. She is a classical dancer from India who aims to spread Indian culture worldwide. 

In a recent exclusive interview with Global Child Prodigy, Vriti Gujral talks about her passion for Kathak.

When & How Did Vriti Gujral Start Learning Kathak?

Vriti’s passion for Kathak started when she was six years old. Her mother always wanted her to explore areas beyond academics also. So, she took Vriti to an institute where three types of classes were given, including Western, piano, and Kathak. She liked all the courses, but she was fascinated by the dancers who were wearing ghungroo and performing their kathak performance. So, she loved Kathak the most.

Fascinated By Ghungroo – Vriti Gujral

The ghungroo amazed Vriti, and she was very excited to wear them one day. That was precisely what started the spark in her. Then, she decided to learn Kathak. When she started learning it, she became even more passionate about it. The dancing prodigy began exploring other aspects of Kathak, such as the chakras, footwork, and abhinaya. After that, Vriti just fell in love with Kathak. She says that it is a revered dance form, and it is our culture.

Vriti’s Love For Kathak

Vriti told us that she has been performing Kathak for the past eight years. So, it has now become a part of her. It’s not like when she practices Kathak only then she is into dance, but she instead carries it to her everyday life. The young girl has learned many things from Kathak dance and says that it undoubtedly affects her life.

She practices for 2-3 hours daily on average. There are many different aspects of Kathak, so even if she has an injury, she sits and practices hand movements by giving a taal. Vriti rarely takes off a day & her love for Kathak is increasing day by day.

Winner Of Global Child Prodigy Award 2020

Vriti Gujral received the Global Child Prodigy Award in January 2020 for her incredible classical dance skills. She was also one of the Top 100 child prodigies of the world.
