Hello Ayan, How Are You? Tell Us A Little About Yourself
I’m fine. Thank you. My name is Ayan Gogoi Gohain. I’m seven years old. I live in North Lakhimpur, Assam, with my mother and grandparents. My father works in Mizoram. I’m an author and a painter. Currently, I’m in grade 1 in Asian Public School.
How did you come up with the name, Bumblebee?
I love bees. So I gave my book the name- ‘Bumblebee.’
What’s the book about?
The book is about the secret key to love, empathy, health, and relationships. It has 30 stories and accompanying illustrations.
How many books have you written as yet?
I’ve written two books- ‘Honeycomb‘ and ‘Bumblebee.’
What are your paintings in the book about?
The illustrations are mostly about nature and the things we should care about the most.
Tell us about nature in Assam.
Assam is a beautiful place. It’s full of greenery. There’s a park near my house. I love going there, as it has many swings, slides, a seesaw, and a train ride.
How long do you take to finish one painting?
It takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete one painting. I don’t paint very often because I’m generally occupied with reading and writing.
How often do you write new stories?
It takes about 15 hours to complete one story. God and nature guide me in the process as it helps me find exciting story ideas.
How do you balance life between school and writing?
I manage my time accordingly to sleep, read, write, and play every day.
How do you feel about the pandemic situation?
I miss going out to meet my friends, but I’m happy not to go to school. My best friends are my grandparents, and I like Michael Forester( Writer).
Tell us a little about your Gossamer Dreams Exhibition.
My first art exhibition, Gossamer Dreams, was at Mizoram University Auditorium in Aizawl. My 62 paintings were displayed in the exhibition, and its purpose was to make everyone realize how amazing the world is. Gossamer is the name given to spider’s web. It’s a very delicate material and can break easily. I gave the name ‘Gossamer Dreams’ to my Art Exhibition to make people realize that you should be careful about things in life, else they might get broken and lost.
Are you working on any new book?
Yes, I’m working on three books.
How did you feel when your talent got recognized by GCPA?
I felt happy and honored. It was a moment of pride.
Any message for your audience?
I want to tell people to be happy; do what you love to do. Always spread love and kindness; still retain the crazy, little, naughty child in you and carry the beauty & truth in your words and actions.
Thank you, Ayan Gogoi Gohain. You are a wonderful person. We wish you all the best for your future. May you get all the success in life.
