Music and mischief are the perfect words to describe Akshara Kaushik, a young Carnatic vocal prodigy whose journey into music began as early as two and a half years old. Even at a tender age, Akshara’s natural musicality, confidence on stage, and love for singing set her apart, hinting at a future shaped by rhythm and devotion.
Akshara’s formal training began under the guidance of renowned gurus Kruthi Bhat, Aparna Sundararaman, and Sreekutty at the Malhaar Institute of Performing Arts, Dubai. Her first solo milestone came on March 11, 2023, when she performed at the Consulate General of India, Dubai, marking the beginning of a series of notable performances and accolades.
Despite her young age, Akshara has already participated in and won multiple national and international competitions, including UAE’s Got Talent Season 3, GIIS Little Stars, and prestigious Carnatic contests across Singapore and India. She has had the rare opportunity to learn and perform under the mentorship of stalwarts such as S. Sowmya and Neyveli Santhanagopalan, experiences that have enriched both her technique and musical depth.
A defining highlight in Akshara’s journey came when she featured in the Tamil album Thirukkural 1330, composed by Lydian Nadhaswaram, marking her first professional studio recording. Her move to Singapore further expanded her horizons, where she continued her training, won top honors at SIFAS and Veenadhari Institute competitions, and performed solo with a live band at the iconic Esplanade Theatres.
Beyond achievements and applause, Akshara’s journey reflects humility, kindness, and a heart rooted in giving. Through her participation in charity concerts supporting the Children’s Cancer Foundation, she has shown that music is not just about performance, but about compassion and service.
