Early Life
Born on April 23, 1993, at Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, Akrit learned to walk and talk when he was only 10 months old. At the age of 2, he started reading and writing. At five, he had begun reading plays by William Shakespeare and books about medicine. His interest in surgery inflamed when the doctors in his hometown allowed him to watch and learn how to perform surgical procedures.
Akrit Jaswal performed surgery on an eight-year-old girl. Five years ago, she burnt her fingers, and due to financial constraints, her parents couldn’t pay for the surgery. Though not a qualified doctor, the family requested him to perform the surgery. He separated their daughter’s fused burnt fingers. Short videos of the surgery appeared on YouTube in 2007, and Akrit became known for this.
