Ayush Mohapatra: Painting a Better World with Every Stroke

1 min read

Ayush Mohapatra, a self-taught speed painter from Puri, Odisha, is redefining how art can be used as a tool for community upliftment and social impact. With a unique ability to paint large-scale artworks using both hands—sometimes in reverse or upside down—Ayush has turned his passion into a purposeful mission.

Despite facing financial challenges, Ayush’s determination has helped him craft a style that blends creativity with compassion. His artworks often reflect themes of Indian culture, spirituality, and social consciousness, capturing attention for both their message and method.

Art With a Mission

What sets Ayush apart is not just how he paints, but why he paints. For the past few years, he has been voluntarily teaching art to underprivileged children every weekend at local shelters and community homes in Puri. His sessions go beyond brushes and colors—they include life lessons, storytelling, and environmental awareness.

Through these engagements, Ayush empowers children not only to express themselves artistically but also to grow in confidence and purpose. His students have found new inspiration through his mentorship, often participating in exhibitions and community art projects.

Creating Change Through the Ayush Art Foundation

To expand the reach of his impact, Ayush founded the Ayush Art Foundation, which works to promote art and cultural education among underserved communities. The foundation organizes free workshops, distributes art kits, and creates platforms for rural, tribal, and orphaned children to explore their creativity.

In 2024, the foundation hosted a national art and spirituality exhibition focused on Odisha’s cultural heritage. Through such initiatives, Ayush aims to preserve traditional values while also fostering a new generation of socially aware artists.

One of the foundation’s most notable efforts is its environmental art campaign, “Let’s Create Artistic Planet.” This initiative combines speed painting with climate education and tree-planting drives in schools, orphanages, and tribal regions. So far, the campaign has reached thousands of children and continues to grow through a network of youth volunteers.

National Recognition and Lasting Inspiration

Ayush’s work has drawn appreciation from community leaders, educators, and families across regions. His talent and service were further recognized when he received a letter of appreciation from the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, for his contributions to promoting culture and uplifting marginalized children through art. What continues to drive Ayush is not fame or accolades, but a deeper sense of spiritual purpose. Deeply devoted to Lord Jagannath and inspired by traditional values, he sees his artistic ability as a gift meant to serve others. Many of his paintings reflect temple architecture, deities, and moral themes aimed at spreading peace and unity.

Today, while continuing his studies, Ayush balances academics with his growing foundation work. His commitment to never charging for performances at social events or for teaching underprivileged children speaks volumes about his values. Ayush Mohapatra is not just an artist. He is a mentor, a cultural ambassador, and a quiet force of change—using every stroke of his brush to inspire hearts and uplift lives.

At GCPA, we are proud to witness the journey of socially driven young artists like Ayush Mohapatra. His story is one of passion, empathy, and action. We extend our heartfelt wishes to Ayush and hope his dedication continues to light the path for many more children across the globe.
