 — The Bhagavad Gita

Why Yoga Is Essential For Everybody?

Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root Yuj which means “to attach, join, harness.” No doubt, Yoga is India’s greatest gift to the World, which existed with us way back to 5000 years. It is one of the oldest and purest forms to practice, which helps to blend our soul with our mind. And we as Indian’s play a vital role in nourishing their roots and spreading it to the rest of the World.

Yoga is not about exercise but to discover a sense of oneness with us, the World, and nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in healthy living. It helps in improving respiration, energy, and vitality of the body. The regular practice of Yoga can help to reduce weight, improves immunity, relieves stress, and maintain a more healthy lifestyle.

International Yoga Day

The International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015. The date was suggested by our current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in one of his UN meetings. He suggested this date as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the World, and the environment. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.— Narendra Modi, UN General Assembly
