People all over the world are calling for change, and young people like Sainath Manikandan are stepping up to show that age doesn’t matter when it comes to making a big difference. At only 14, Sainath went from being a concerned observer to an innovator and environmental fighter. Her story shows how powerful it is for young people to have passion that is aligned with a purpose. His story is not only a source of hope, but also a call to action. It embodies the goal of the Global Child Prodigy Awards, which is to find and support the world’s most talented young people.
The Beginning of Change
Sainath’s journey began when he was only 8 years old and went back to his country. Faced with the harsh truth of plastic pollution, he was driven by a strong question: If one city could make so much trash, what about the whole world? This understanding, along with the shocking predictions made by the UN Environment Program about the future of our oceans, made Sainath want to do something to help protect the environment. At the launch of the Drop It Youth First Campaign, the film “A Plastic Ocean” opened his eyes. This made him want to come up with new ideas that would help the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Overcoming Obstacles
There are a lot of problems on the way to creativity, and Sainath’s was no different. Choosing the right parts and programming the robot itself were just a few of the problems he ran into while designing his test robot. Despite this, his strength, which came from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s teachings and heritage, kept him going. Sainath felt that Dr. Kalam’s trust in hard work and the power of dreams connected with him and pushed him forward despite the problems.
Making an Impact
More than just coming up with new ideas, Sainath’s projects are meant to make people feel responsible for our world. He has worked to make his peers and the community as a whole more aware of the environment through campaigns and charity work like beach, desert, and mangrove cleanups. Through the PEPC program, he and his sister Sai Sahana Manikandan have made a big difference in Abu Dhabi’s recycling and conservation efforts.
Achievements
People have noticed that Sainath is dedicated to protecting the earth and coming up with new ideas. He has won many honors, including the Eco Hero Award from Actions for Nature, the Diana Award, and praise from different parts of the UAE government. These awards show how important he is and how much he wants to make the future sustainable.
